ve energy is a decision many home owners are making. These same home owners are either looking to reduce their utility bills or just wanting to make the earth a better place to live. Whatever the reason you have for using solar power, An important point is to remember that solar power will provide you with long term effects. One such effect is a savings to the home owner of up to 80% on their electric bill. How would you like to save 80% of your utility bill?
Solar power for the home owner has become more practical over the years; It will make the value of your home appreciate, support the cause for a better, cleaner environment. Because solar power for homes is becoming more main stream the accessibility to solar power is also increasing. There are many ways to start your home off to becoming a solar powered house but first it’s important to understand what solar power is and how solar power will work for your home.

Yes you may say but how does solar energy works. Keep reading about how does solar energy works in the following paragraph.
Solar energy can reduce your electric and heating bill by and incredible amount leaving you with the savings to enjoy life a little and save for the future. Solar energy is about a technology that converts the sun energy into electric current with the help of solar panels. The mechanics behind solar energy is the work of the all mighty God; the sun’s incredible energy is produced thanks to the help of hydrogen through nuclear fusion that travels directly to the earth. The receiving solar panels convert the rays into electric current that are stored in batteries.

The sun not only gives us light; it also has the ability to provide us with power that may be converted into electricity. The electricity and the heat that we need in our homes can be within reach when we utilize what the sun is able to give us. There are so many solar power advantages that many people have to be aware of, proof that the sun and the power it sends are truly important, especially in this day of rising electricity bills.
One important benefit of solar power is that it is renewable. It is not like oil that can be gone after a certain number of years. True, we may discover another source once oil is gone, but that source may probably be non-renewable as well. Be reminded that the source of solar power is the sun. We do not even have to worry about the sun disappearing. It may rest during the night, but in the morning, we all know that the sun will be back in the sky. Therefore, if we rely on solar power, we are sure that it will never disappear to nothingness.

My experiences with solar power outline some of the main disadvantages of this type of energy. I am a true advocate of alternative energy sources and will try anything to do my part towards preserving the environment. My experiences with solar power have not changed my views and will not prevent me from trying other methods but the world needs to understand that there is a price to pay what ever you do. In this article I have outline my own experiences of using solar power rather than looking at global disadvantages.
I have a solar powered hot water system which is becoming very hard to maintain. I live in an area which receives a lot of rain. This rain is hard water with above average calcium deposits. This leaves a white deposit over the actual solar panel. When the panel becomes crusted up there is not enough energy to heat the water. I’m now getting too old to climb on the roof to give it a wipe before it gets to bad. I have to pay someone quite regularly to sort it out for me. It costs me nearly $100 a month to keep this up. The electricity company does more…
Solar power has many more uses around your home than just solar heating. The technology has made significant advances and you can now cook, heat your pool and even refrigerate your groceries using energy from the sun. However, your solar home may have issues that you may be unaware of. In this article, we’ll talk about the economic and environmental benefits and drawbacks of using solar power.
The biggest benefit of solar energy is that the fuel is free and the source is unlimited. There is little to no maintenance required with solar panels because there are no moving parts. In fact, most manufacturers include warranties on their products that are good for up to twenty-five years. In the event of a blackout, solar power is not affected. That means that during extreme storms, your family can still enjoy all the comforts of your solar home.

In many countries, a solar heating system can provide a very high percentage of domestic hot water requirements. In many northern European countries, combined hot water and space heating systems are used to provide 15% to 25% home heating energy.
A solar heating system is composed of solar thermal collectors that move the heat to its point of usage and a reservoir or tank for heat storage. The system may be used to heat domestic hot water, swimming pool water or for space heating.
In order to heat water using solar energy, a collector is fastened to the roof of a building or on a wall facing the sun. The collector could be made of simple glass topped insulated box with a flat solar absorber made of sheet metal.
The system pumps cold water to a collector to be heated. The heated water flows back to a collection tank. This type of collector would be able to provide hot water for an entire family.
There are three main kinds of solar thermal collectors in common use : Formed Plastic
Collectors, Flat Collectors and Evacuated Tube Collectors.
Formed Plastic Collectors consist of panels through which water more…
Public concern about global warming and rising energy costs has led to an increased interest in clean, renewable energy. Solar energy is a particularly attractive alternative to petroleum dependence. Solar energy is a clean, reliable and endlessly renewable energy source, and new technology has made it more affordable than ever to homes and businesses.
Even so, the initial cost of buying and installing a solar energy system can be daunting. A typical solar installation for a single family dwelling could cost $20,000. Though using solar power saves money on utility bills, eventually giving a complete return on your investment, the initial cost can be prohibitive to many consumers.
Fortunately there are numerous financial incentives at the federal, state and local level that can significantly defray the cost of installing a solar energy system.
Incentives are available from federal, state and municipal governments, from local and regional groups including non-profit and private organizations, and from local utility companies.
At the federal level, the Renewable Energy and Energy Conservation Tax Act of 2005 provided funding for tax incentives for residential and commercial applications. This Act seeks more…
In general, solar water heater systems can be more costly to purchase and setup than standard gas or electric water heating systems. However, by using a solar heater you will definitely save money on the long run.. By selecting to use solar energy technology you can expect to save around 50 to 80% on your electricity bills.
Gathering energy coming from the sun to heat water is not a new idea at all. Such technology using solar power for heating water exists since the year 1800. Producing warm water with solar energy can be employed about every where in the world and the sun and some special equipment is the only thing needed.
The key parts of a solar water heater are the solar collectors that grab and concentrate the energy coming from the sun and the storage tank. Such simple setup is usually called passive solar power. When mechanical and electrical devices such electric pumps are installed in the system to push the water it is then called solar active. To keep the water hot for long period of time a good insulation should be made to the storage tank.
Usually you will find two types more…
