Residential solar panels gained a lot of popularity in the recent years. The main reason is that they are quite efficient alternative to regular energy sources and thus can cut home utility bills by thousands.

In essence solar panels are made of solar cells that collect sun emission and than transform it into energy that can be used for any household. Many people use them just for home heating as well as producing hot water, while other also use panels to produce electricity.

Why people consider installing panels in their homes? Here are the main benefits:

Earth friendly: Residential solar panels use solar energy to create electricity, heat water or heat your home. In that sense they are totally environmentally safe because they do not use any fuel and thus cause no pollution.

User friendly: A less known fact is that it is quite easy to manufacture solar panels for your household needs by yourself. All kind of panels are very easy to install too. Moreover the maintenance of both DIY and ready made residential solar panels is quite easy and it requires neither a lot of time nor money.

Cost effectiveness: Alternative energy sources require only an initial investment more…

Solar energy is proven and best way to produce non-conventional renewable energy to power the farms. Today, solar electricity panels are used by many farm owners to run their farms.

You need experienced solar installers to install a solar platform. You can quickly find such expert solar installers near your location, by searching on the internet. You should pick up the potential solar installers by enquiring about their expertise and experience in the field. Do not blindly choose the first installer you find or settle for the lowest price. Apply common sense while posing queries to your contractor before installing the solar power panels for farms.

Over the past fifteen years or so, the cost of producing solar energy has halved. This is largely due to rapidly advancing technology, resulting in smaller and cheaper cells. While these photovoltaic cells have become smaller and cheaper, they have at the same time become immensely more efficient. With the help of modern technology, these cells are now able to focus the sunlight they trap onto an extremely concentrated area.

Solar power is without a doubt, one of the most environmentally friendly energy resources in the world today. Of course with all the current concern regarding global warming, producing zero emissions rates high on the agenda. By taking advantage of the technology we have available, we are able to utilize natural sunlight, provided free of charge with compliments from the sun. Thanks to the efficiency of today’s photovoltaic cells, it’s become ever more practical and financially viable to place these solar power systems on home rooftops. Once installed, you can be sure of a virtually trouble free system, capable of providing you with electricity, central heating and even hot water.

The photovoltaic cells used today have advanced to such an extent, that they are now able to more…

Once a distant technology that just sat on roofs that a few green minded people used, solar power has become a trendy tool we can hold in our hands. Sunlight - solar energy - can be used to generate electricity, provide hot water, and to heat, cool, and light buildings. Many large commercial buildings can use solar collectors to provide more than just hot water. Solar process heating systems can be used to heat these buildings. A solar ventilation system can be used in cold climates to preheat air as it enters a building. And the heat from a solar collector can even be used to provide energy for cooling a building. The Co-operative Insurance Building in Manchester has the largest commercial solar system in the UK. I think it looks very futuristic and cool! What other solar gadgets can you buy?You can also buy solar chargers for iPods and phones. Other recent outlandish additions include a solar-powered tent, scooter and LED house numbers, while mundane ones like bike lights, torches and radios have been around for years.

People can also use captured passive solar heat to cook food. A basic cooker consists of an insulated box with a glass top. Heat from more…

Solar power is recently broadly used not only from business but from private homes instead of traditional energy resources. The main benefit of using it is that it is renewable - solar power cannot finish and as long as there is sunlight power can be generated.

What do you need to have to benefit from renewable solar power? In fact the equipment needed is neither extraordinary nor very expensive. All you need to have to start using solar power as alternative energy source s solar panels. Moreover solar panels are pretty easy to be manufactured in case you want to do them yourself. The materials required are not very expensive and the actual manufacturing does not require great skills.

Once you have the solar panels installed you should decide what for you will use the renewable solar power. It can be used for generating electricity or heating of your home or just for heating water. Many people prefer using solar panels to get hot water only. Other uses it for home heating as well. Some also get panels installed to generate electricity. Still you will have to get a lot of solar panels installed if you want to fully replace more…

I have long been interested in the potential of solar energy and its potential. It definitely has a place in the future for reducing our dependency on foreign oil. The biggest disadvantage of solar energy is the room that the collectors take on the land. Collectors are getting more efficient and doing a better job with smaller collectors. The big problem right now with any form of renewable energy is that the heads of our government are both big oil people and this high priced oil is making them richer every day. Why should they want to find a form of energy that will take money out of their pocket. I think that future administrations will be more interested in solar and wind energy.

There has been some research on solar powered cars and their have been some made that worked fairly well but they have never been made or marketed commercially. The big problem as I understand it is that the storage batteries have to be so big and heavy that they just aren’t very practical. I am sure that there are probably companies working on that problem but I can’t tell more…

Active Solar Water Heater Systems
Solar water heater systems are designed to be active, with pumps or fans to promote the gathering of heat, or passive, with no mechanical parts added to the system. Solar water heaters have been around since just before the dawn of the twentieth century. Standard natural gas water heaters took their place in the early 1900’s. Since the 1970’s, new technologies have solved the many problems that have plagued the solar water heater industry. Problems like excessive oxidation and just plain not having enough hot water are not problems now.
The only major differences between the four different kinds of active solar water heater systems is the way in which the heat collector, which is located on top of your roof or similar location, protects itself against freezing. These systems are called: Recirculate, drain-down, drain-back, and heat exchange.
The recirculate system
This system uses an electrical pump to move water through the collector to prevent it from freezing. Moving water will not freeze, but some heat is sacrificed to do this.
The drain-down system
This system simply takes the water out of the collector by opening a valve more…

A tankless water heater is a European standard which is only slowly coming across the ocean to North America.

The basic concept is that a section of water pipe is insulted and heated, such that when the hot water is turned on anywhere, the heater engages and the water, by the time it travels through the heated section of pipe, is hot when it emerges. This can result in *huge* energy savings, since a large quantity of water isn’t sitting with heat constantly being pumped into it. The downside most common cited is that it takes a short period of time before the hot water actually arrives *hot*… the volume of water that is already in the pipes when the tap is turned on will only be slightly warmed (water must travel the entire length of the pipe to arrive at the proper temperature, so water which is already part way down the pipe will only be partially heated).

However, there are several easy fixes for this problem. The simplest (and most common) is to leave the hot water running for a few seconds before using it. Turn on the shower, brush your teeth, and by the time you’re done more…
